Environmental Policy
As a solo business owner, talking about responsible activities includes sharing my personal values and ethics.
I feel it’s important to reduce my negative impact on the environment and actively work to protect it.
These are the steps I’ve committed to following, plus those I’m still working towards.
Carbon emissions
Use a green energy supplier for heating and electricity.
Turn off lights, computers, and electrical equipment when not in use.
Wear an extra layer before turning up heating, and use heat with the environment in mind.
Clients and suppliers
Choose not to work with businesses linked to deforestation, fossil fuels, mining, tobacco, arms and weaponry, gambling, pornography, and poor animal welfare.
Choose to work with clients and suppliers who have beliefs and values aligned with mine.
Choose ethical banks where possible which expressly avoid funding fossil fuels, mining, arms and military.
Office supplies and materials
Recycle waste paper where possible (note: confidential waste is disposed of correctly).
Use refillable water bottles.
Where available, choose eco-friendly paper for commercial printing.
Use eco-friendly cleaning products and toilet roll.
Minimise single-use plastics.
Work practices
Use video conferencing for meetings to reduce unnecessary travel.
Where possible, limit face-to-face meetings to clients within walking or cycling distance.
Giving back
Support small local businesses at home and away whenever possible.
Support charities through events or volunteering.
Things I'm still working on
Developing a percentage donation of sales to the planet or local charity.
Doing a 1-hour litter pick for each new client signed.
Sourcing and moving to fully ethical banking.
