How I work

A clear, straightforward process from start to finish

I like to keep things simple and well organised, so you always know what’s happening without needing to chase or stay on top of every detail.
‍ ‍

1. Initial chat

We start with a conversation about your business and what you need. It’s a chance for me to understand your brand, your goals, what you want to achieve. It also helps you to get a feel for how I work.
‍ ‍

2. Project scope

Before I begin, I’ll gather the details I need to fully understand the work involved. That might include the type of content, how much is needed, your existing materials and (for SEO work), your audience, competitors, and keywords.

‍ ‍

3. Proposal and pricing

I’ll put together a clear proposal outlining the scope of work, timelines, and pricing, so you know exactly what’s included and what to expect.
‍ ‍

4. Booking in

To secure your project, I’ll ask you to sign an agreement and pay a 50% upfront deposit.

The remaining 50% will be due on completion of the project. For larger or longer-term projects, this may be split into staged payments (for example, 50/25/25).

Retainer work will be invoiced monthly in advance, payable on the first day of each month.
‍ ‍

5. Timings and deadlines

I'm often booked a few weeks in advance, so it’s best to get in touch early if you’re working to a deadline.

Once everything is agreed and booked in, I’ll keep things on track and deliver as promised. Timings will depend on the scope of work and how quickly feedback and approvals are turned around.

‍ ‍

6. Briefing

This is where we go into more detail about your business, including your audience, tone of voice, goals, and anything else needed for the work.

The more context I have, the better the final result.
‍ ‍

7. Completing the work

Once everything is in place, I’ll get started.

For content projects, I usually provide a draft followed by up to two revisions, so we can refine things and get to a final version you’re happy with.

‍ ‍

8. Communication

Most communication happens via email, with phone or video calls where needed.

I aim to keep things clear and manageable, without adding unnecessary meetings.
‍ ‍

9. Review and final payment

You’ll have time to review work and request any agreed revisions so we can make sure everything feels right before sign off.

Once the project is completed, the final invoice will be issues. Payment terms are 14 days.
‍ ‍

10. Ongoing support

Many clients continue working with me after the initial project, whether that’s content, website updates, or general support.

I’ll usually as for a Google Business Profile or LinkedIn testimonial, which I may share on my website. It’s always appreciated and helps others who are considering working with me.
